If anyone out there has not seen it, you should waste no time tracking it down.  It is terrific.

]]>72968Sun, 07 Dec 2025 22:54:34 +0000"Dead Poets Society" (1989)https://forums.awesomedude.org/topic/72967-dead-poets-society-1989/ I was inspired to re-watch this film by something I read recently, but couldn't find it in my DVD/Blu-Ray collection.  I was sure I had watched it at home (years ago) and finally realized it must have been on a VHS tape which did not survive my last two moves.  Amazon to the rescue.

The film holds up.  Robin Williams, who actually does not get that much screen time, is terrific as the maverick teacher who uses poetry to convey life lessons to the boys at an elite all-male private boarding school in the late 50s.  Robert Sean Leonard, who later had a significant role on the House television series, is brilliant as student Neil Perry, who is the central character in the story, and a very young Ethan Hawke is also excellent as Neil's roommate Todd.  The actors playing other school faculty members, as well as Neil's father, are all well cast and suitably evil.

I won't say more for fear of spoiling it.  Worth watching again if you've seen it, or for the first time if you haven't.
